Red Brick Walled Old Church

This church is an architectural monument of more than one-century age. According to the the inscription on the pillar, this European-style building was built in the late 1800s. The Catholic Church Birth of Blessed Virgin Mary or well known as the Church of Kepanjen is located in Kepanjen Street, Surabaya, East Java. The red brick that were imported from Europe dominated the outside of building. The statues of St. Peter and st. Paul are flanked the main door. The 15 meters twin towers make the church looks dashing and sturdy. Moreover, when viewed from above, the building looks like a cross.

The interior is no less interesting. The roof is dome-shaped propped with high pillars. The large windows give freedom to the light to get in and light up the room. The colorful glass mosaic depicting the journey of Christ with His disciples gives the impression of a magnificent and religious.
