The building is popularly called Monument of Simpang Lima Gumul. It is located in Kediri, East Java. This building has 804 square meters with a building height to 25 meters. It has three ladders as high as 3 meters from the ground floor. These numbers describe the date, month and year of the anniversary of Kediri, ie March 25 804 AD. On the wall, there are some reliefs that tell about the culture and history of Indonesia. Oh ya, this city used to be the great kingdom, that was the kingdom of Kediri or Kadiri. In all four sides of the monument, there is a statue of Ganesha, the symbol of Kediri regency.
I do not know the reason why the building is similar to the L’Arch de Triomphe in France. Whether accidental or indeed imitating, however, it’s clear that this monument already becomes a new icon of the city of Kediri. Moreover, since the existence of this monument, the night activities in Kediri became more festive. There are many people hanging out around the monument. The effect was also raised its food and souvenir merchants. Once again, despite of the controversy, the spirit of this monument is expected to improve the economy of Kediri.
